Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho

This is kind of a unique shot of McGown peak in the Sawtooth mountains of Idaho. It was take a few years ago in January. I had been wanting to take this shot for quite some time. I really like McGown, the problem is that the sunrise is always at such an acute angle most of it from this vantage point is in shadows. So we planned a trip on this day at this time which is when the Moon was as far North as it is for the year. Believe it or not, this was take at night, by moon light. If you look in the sky you can see mini star trails. The exposure was a little over 2 minutes.
It was cold on this night. Our trek was 5 miles in on skies from the main road. We arrived just before sundown, we did build a fire to keep warm by until the moon positioned itself for this shot. Around 11:00PM we made our way back the 5 miles to the truck, easy to see since there was an almost full moon over head and lots of snow to reflect.
