Hoarfrost on Little Payette Lake
My son came with me on the early morning trip to Little Payette Lake near McCall in central Idaho. It was 2 degrees outside, extraordinarily cold. As we were making our way around the lake, we found thousands of hoarfrost clumps covering the exposed lake bottom.
We were fortunate to catch this when there was still a low sun angle, about 30 minutes after sunrise. I used an 18mm lens at F11 and focus stacked the scene to get all the frost piles in sharp focus. I also angled the shot to get the water of the lake with a reflection of the forest.
